Ok, apologies for the heavy photography lean on this website recently but anyway….
I’ve noticed something of a trend since the 5D2 was released (heir-to referred to as the jesus-cam)and there has been a flood of pictures onto flickr from people showing off the camera’s high iso capabilities. There’s a torrent of shots of various night scenes taken in available light at night showing the camera’s low light image quality. This would be great, except virtually all of them seem to be taken with the camera either set to auto white balance or set on daylight.
So here’s a tip. Set the white balance to tungsten people. I’m feeling nauseous from all the yellow-tinted photos showing up in my rss reader. I’m not trying to be a snob or a *insert expletive here*, but seriously – it’s ridiculous that people serious enough about photography to spend $2500 plus on a camera don’t know how to set white balance properly.
And not to beat up on the 5D again (my current camera is a 5D1 might I add before you start sending me hate mail) but it shows less that the camera is good at high iso, and more that they still haven’t fixed the crappy auto white balance. (In fairness most camera’s auto white balance is crappy)
