Here are some full resolution samples from the new D3x. All I can say is “Oh my god.” They are easily the most impressive Images I have ever seen from a DSLR. They really do approach the quality of a medium format camera. I’m still laughing at all the people out there who are complaining that this didn’t come in at the same price as the 5D MKII. Seriously, if you think these cameras are in the same league for the target market, go ahead and get a 5D (an I own a 5D) and see how you get on. Seriously.
I have to say, I’m less and less impressed by the images from the 5D2. From all the shots popping up on flickr, they just don’t seem to be any different from the original 5D. Apart from the resolution they look the same. There doesn’t seem to be any great improvement in the overall look, the dynamic range or the colour rendition. I know a lot of people think the 5D is the messiah-cam but having owned one for 3 years I find it to be something of a dog, and the 5D2 looks like it’s the same dog but with a finer coat. Anyway, I digress.
I can’t wait to see the results from the D3X when it gets into the hands of some real pros like Joe McNally or Moose Peterson.
