Personally, I don't think its true. FCP has made a lot of headway in the pro sector. That being said, they need to re-focus their efforts for the pro user and bring about 4 CORE laptops, 16 core Mac Pros.

One thing I would like to see is:
• Mini and Macbooks with DECENT GPU.
• Texas Instrument Firewire on all machines

Start to offer PRO classes in the apple store or on-line.

FWIW, I know someone that SAW, yes SAW, actually SEEN a new FCP that is supposed to be as easy as iMovie but still deep for FCP.

Go Apple and PLEASE start to focus on the PRO user and dump the on-board GMA on cheaper products, who cares, let the consumer buy these machines for gaming and us for pro use.

Thanks

Thanks for this post - I can now point my boss to someone else who thinks its a storm in a bathtub and nothing else. He was at NAB and came back a bit worried that all the investment we have made would become worthless... but then he is a bit neurotic. He mentioned how many people were absolutely convinced it was true and even had an Adobe rep try to convince him that only Adobe guaranteed the future lol. As I pointed out, this was nonsense since Premiere is so woefully short on the features we take for granted with FCP.
I agree about the hothouse tension at NAB but it does show how the industry now looks to Apple to provide talking points... they own post-production - why would they cut off a lucrative market?
I passed on going this year, funnily enough because Apple did.
It won't stop idle tongues tho'
