Jeremy

Thanks for taking the time to post a response on this otherwise obscure mac blog. As I said I have been a reader of iLounge for a long time and I am a big fan of your writing in general, so I hope my comments didn't offend.

As I have been a ps3 owner since it came out, I too have been following the development of the Playstation Network and it's potential, but as your post didn't really elaborate on that it just seemed like you were comparing two completely different things. If you make that clear I wouldn't have had a problem at all.

Anyway, like i said thanks for taking the time to respond, and I really do think iLounge is a great site in general.

Thomas,

The piece that was posted on iLounge appeared in our Backstage editors' blog, which is an informal area where our editors can post thoughts on topics loosely related to the iPod/iTunes universe. It wasn't an "editorial," rather, it was just a collection of thoughts and observations, intended to highlight some of the pleasant enhancements Sony has made to its Store. However, as some iLounge readers might not be familiar with the last six months of Sony's planning for the store, it looks like I really should have included one key thing in the entry:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB118885177843416106.html
http://kotaku.com/363135/sonys-playstation-3-video-store-sounds-ready-to-go

Sony is about to add a TV and movie download service to the PlayStation Store, with the aim of making it a full-fledged Apple TV competitor (obviously, with more features).

Discussion of this and Sony's other plans for the store has been circulating for quite some time now, but since other readers may not have heard those details, I'm going to update the piece to more fully explain them. Sorry that the entry didn't make sense to you.
