NBC iTunes Fiasco Continues

NBC are now trying to deny the allegations that Apple made against them, mainly that they wanted to double their wholesale price: (from Bloomberg)

“We are also disappointed in not being able to successfully negotiate a new iTunes agreement with Apple. We’re hopeful that we can reach a resolution before the existing contract expires. However, we felt it important to set the record straight.

We never asked to double the wholesale price for our TV shows. In fact, our negotiations were centered on our request for flexibility in wholesale pricing, including the ability to package shows together in ways that could make our content even more attractive for consumers.”

Roughly translated…

“We never wanted to double the price of ALL of our TV shows. We wanted to offer some content as “premium” in an attempt to convince consumers they were getting the rest at a bargain”

I mean, come on, do you really think Apple just made up the whole thing then decided to issue a press release. That would be slander and certainly potential for a law suit. So, NBC, I hate to break it to you, but no one believes you. You called Apple’s bluff and they didn’t flinch. Time I think to show your hand or fold.
