UK iTunes gets TV shows. The rest of Europe still waits.

iTunes customers in the UK can no download (a few) TV shows including popular series like Lost and Ugly Betty. I had a quick look this morning (while waiting for my coffee machine to warm up) and there only seems to be a few US shows. There is no sign of locally produced content, which in fairness doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Still, it’s a start. The rest of Europe, including those of us here in Ireland (who get most of our TV programming from UK TV stations) will still have to wait a while longer. According to Ars Technica though the rest of Europe is “coming soon”.

Once again this brings up the whole question of cross border selling in the EU and the legality of Apple (and more likely its industry partners) from restricting sales from one country to another. It’s a step in the right direction though so time will tell.
