iPod Nano Rumor

A rumor of new iPod nanos surfaced earlier today from the website 9to5Mac. They are now claiming that Apple asked them to take them down (this has to be the oldest trick in the book now for making your apple rumor appear to be real), although the pictures are still here on MacNN, which, curiously doesn’t seem to have been bothered by Apple’s legal team. Now, there’s a good chance that they are bogus, but one thing struck me about the supposed new design. The shape of the screen seems fatter and wider than the old iPod nano, and ore like the display on the current iPod with Video. This made me wonder.

A short while ago there were a couple of videos floating around that were claiming to be the new iPod interface, which had a lot of people head scratching because they assumed the next generation of video iPods would be based off the iPhone UI, a theory backed up by Steve Jobs’ comments earlier that an upcoming iPod would be running OSX. The interface videos did appear genuine and were “removed at the request of Apple”. But what if that interface was actually the interface for the next iPod nano, which featured in the picture, has a screen more like its bigger brother? This could mean that we might yet see a full screen multi touch video iPod.

Then again, we probably won’t.
