802.11n Enabler: Free After All?

image
I think someone might be getting crossed wires about this, but According to Notebook Review, Apple has posted the by now infamous 802.11n enabler firmware for Core2 Duo Macs. However, Nothing on the apple page for this says definitively that this is in fact the case, and that this is not just a separate update. If anyone with a compatible macbook or macbook pro can confirm this please let me know. If it is the enabler, this is great news, although they will have some explaining to do as to why this is now free after all the hoopla. If not, shoddy shoddy journalism.

UPDATE:
According to Mac Central this is just a security fix:

“The update corrects an issues that could cause system crashes on a wireless network caused by malicious intent, according to Apple.

“An out-of-bounds memory read may occur while handling wireless frames. An attacker in local proximity may be able to trigger a system crash by sending a maliciously-crafted frame to an affected system,” reads the security information for the new update.

The problem only affects certain Mac models, according to Apple — specifically, the Core Duo version of the Mac mini, MacBook and MacBook Pro, when using wireless networking.”

So, shoddy journalism it is then.
