Universal and Sony to prohibit sharing of some songs on Zune

According to engadget, Universal and Sony Music are to prohibit certain songs from being shared with Zune’s “squirting feature” (Microsoft’s term, not mine.) There are so many things wrong with this I don’t know where to begin. First of all, the sharing feature is so crippled to begin with that restricting it even further is a bad case of overkill, but far more importantly, how dare Universal do this when they are already collecting a fee from every zune sold. It’s almost like record companies want themselves to fail. It’s completely ridiculous. As engadget puts it: “It’s official: record companies don’t like you.”
